Why are poems so popular on the Internet?
Poems are short. As they usually have very short lines, it doesn't take long to skim over them, particularly when read on a computer screen. Poetry is a highly condensed art form, so readers get the essence of any messages instantly. Thanks to search engines, readers find it easy to find very specific types of poetry, be it the old-time favourite genre of love poems, or verses that are of particular interest to ethnic minorities or religious groupings. No paper edition could do justice to representing black poetry or Christian poetry.
